4.  Number of  Doors in your Home: Follow a rule of thumb, the first floor of the home should have lesser number of doors compared to the ground floor and  

5. Keep all the balcony towards East or North directions of Your home.

The earth is four types, viz., Brahmani, Kashatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. Before the work of house building is started one should Pay attention to the quality of the earth. Vastu shastra experts have told about the following four types of land. According to Kalpadrum-   
Has a pleasant smell:      Brahmani land
Smells like blood:            Kashatriya land           
Smells like foodgrain:     Vaishya land    
Smells like liquor:             Shudra land

According to the sages of olden days:
According to the above, the best land is that which is white-yellow in colour, beats six types of tastes, has colour uniformity, is full of livestock and food grains, smells like lotus and is free. From the mixing of stones and rind, protrudes towards South or west side; is bound by a ravine and is devoid of sharp objects and where seeds grow into a tree.
Soil white in appearance:      Brahmani land
Red coloured soil:                   Kashatriya land
Green coloured soil:              Vaishya land   
Black soil:                                 Shudra land
Has sweet water:                    Brahmani land
Tastes bitter:                           Kashatriya land

In a Northerly shop, the slope of the floor to be from south to north, and from west to east, according to the Vastu rules.
1. The trade should take his seat a little distance away from the northern and western side walls of north- west (vayavya) area. If he sits facing the north, he should keep his cash-box on his right.
2.The cash-box should be so positioned that when it is opened, it is seen by the heavenly eyes of kuber, the lord of wealth.
3.If the trader prefers to use chair and table for office purposes then they should be positioned in south-west (nairitya) area so that when the trade sites on the chair he either has face towards north or east.
4.The table and chair should not be positioned in south-east (aagneya) or north-east (ishan) area. The northern and eastern parts of the shop have to be kept neat and clean for the use of the customers. If there are two shutters in the shop the one in the north-east (ishan) area should be kept in locked position.

In an easternly shop, the slope of the floor have to be from southern side to northern side and from western side to eastern side.
1. The trader should take his seat a little distance away from the eastern and southern walls of south-east (aagneya) area.
2. The almirah and cash box should be on his left side, while he sits with his face towards north. The cash box should be kept in such a position that it opens towards the north attracting the attention of kuber, the lord of wealth.
3. The chairs and tables could be fixed in the south-east (aagneya) corner. The sitting arrangement must not be made in north-east (ishan) or in north-east (vayavya) corner. This, however, can be done in south or west sides.

Take a look at the Vastu rules for building Commercial Complexes, A residential apartments should be made according to Vastu rules since it provides a peaceful living to the family's of the society.

  1. First lets' talk about the type of plot required for Commercial Complexes  - Always prefer a plot that is protruding in the North-East direction, the gate of the shops should open either to the North or the East. 
  2. Water sources should either be maintained in in the North or East direction. 
  3.  Entry and exit of the customers should be arranged at Northern side of the Commercial Complexes.
  4. Temple (if any) should be constructed at North or East direction.
  5. Store Room / heavy goods should be kept in South or in West direction.
  6. Electric meter, switch boards, etc. at SE direction.

We should be careful while setting-up offices and other Commercial Places., In general north and east facing shops are the best. The open sales counter will always face the road of the city, such, but for south and west facing shops owner of salesman should sit such that he is in the southwest zone and is facing east or north while sitting and receiving the cash. South or west facing shops should avoid having entry from southwest corner.

But the Vastu is bit different for bigger shops and stores, now in  bigger shops and stores the cash counter should be in north or northeast zone. The manager or the senior officers should sit in southwest zone facing north direction.

Now every store big or small have a  Godown area, according to golden rules of Vastu the Godown to Dispatch Area should be clockwise or from north to south, Toilets etc. should be avoided from Northeast or Southwest side. Level should be kept so that south side is always higher than north. Northeast the Ishaanya zone is good for worshiping and should always be kept clean and less loaded.

The gradient of the land surrounding the building or sheds should either be level or higher on the south or west side. Safes need to be located along the north.
